Right now the only resolution has been to reboot the hosts that are having a problem. I have also tried unmounting them from the command line and by connecting to the hosts directly with the vsphere client. I also ran lsof and could not find any files in use on that LUN.

All VMs have been migrated off, the datastore is not used for heartbeat, vsantraced is disabled, SIOC is disabled, it is not apart of a datastore cluster, and the coredumps have all been cleared. Correct the problem and retry the operation.īut there are not anything on the datastore in use. The error that is occurring indicates that the file system is busy.Ĭannot unmount volume 'Datastore Name: Hosted_FC_LUN70 VMFS uuid: 5202965c-e09a124d-9e1b-001a64c85540' because file system is busy. It is not always the same 3 hosts it varies. So we are sVmotioning VMs off some datastores then deleting the LUNs.įor every datastore we are cleaning up there about 3 out of 16 hosts won't unmount the datastore. It is the same disk that was (probably) not properly detected the very first time I started the QNAP.We are going through doing some cleanup on our datastores. I'm not sure if thats bad or to be expected but I think it is time to get the disk replaced. I am currently scanning it for bad blocks.
Why cannot unmount disk update#
What would be the recommended next step to get the system up? regards, Lars Edit 1: added all log entries Edit 2: Update I tried formatting all disks when in the QNAP, 1 disk would not format. Is there anything I can do to find out why unmounting failed? 3. What is the expected initialization and formatting time when starting the NAS with 3 x 2 TB blank disks? 2. Can someone shed some light on this? Specific questions: 1. After rebooting the system came up with a RAID5 volume formatting failed again due to not being able to unmount the disk. I re-inserted the disks (swapped disk 1 & 2) and tried again, the initializing went on for several hours (18:12:42 until 02:18:20), I then restarted the NAS by its button before it could complete. Đ2:29:05 Systemđ27.0.0.1 localhost Formatting failed(Cannot unmount disk). Đ2:29:37 Systemđ27.0.0.1 localhost Initialization failed. Log snippet: Đ9:56:54 Systemđ27.0.0.1 localhost Formatting failed(Cannot unmount disk). After seeing the log as below I took the disks out and deleted all partitions using a winXP machine and an external USB-bay. I bought the TS419P+ and 3pcs 2Tb WDC WD20EARX-00PASB051.0 Initially I may have had issues with the NAS not seeing disk 1, I am not sure. Hi, I have fought to get my TS419P+ RAID5 system up and running for a few days now.
